Rebar Installation

Rebar installation is a crucial step in concrete construction. Rebar, short for reinforcing bar, is a steel bar used to strengthen concrete. Here’s a breakdown of rebar installation and some additional details

How to install rebar

Concrete is strong in compression (pushing forces) but weak in tension (pulling forces). Rebar takes on the tension, making the concrete structure stronger overall.

Preparation

Before installing the rebar, their location should be determined. This is done using engineering drawings and markings on the ground. Then, the rebars are cut to the required sizes.

Placement of rebar

The rebars are placed in the marked places. To maintain the distance between the bars, auxiliary bars or fixtures are used.

Close the rebar

Rebars are connected to each other to create a reinforcing mesh. Various methods are used to connect rebars, such as welding, closing with wire or using mechanical connections.

Concreting

After finishing the reinforcement, concrete is poured in place. The concrete must completely surround the rebars to maintain the integrity of the structure.

All types of rebar available in the market

Simple rebar

It has a smooth and treadless surface and is used for general purposes such as block beams and foundations.

Ribbed rebar

It has a ribbed surface and is used for purposes that require more strength, such as columns and beams.
